Bersama-sama dengan murid sekolah tersebut, terdaftarlah seramai 36 orang murid Melayu dalam Tingkatan 1 aliran kebangsaan. Mereka datang dari beberapa buah sekolah kebangsaan di sekitar Jasin. Mereka merupakan pengasas Sekolah Menengah Jasin dan peneroka Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan di daerah Jasin. Guru darjahnya ialah Encik Alwi Haji Ahmad. SIBU: Team spirit and hard work are the keys to achieving success, as demonstrated by SMK Iskandar Shah from Melaka in emerging champion at the National-level Secondary Schools Poem and Song Competition 2011 held here from June 13-16. The school’s teacher-in- charge, Sabar Muhamad praised the students for their achievement and making Malacca proud. Sabar stressed that without team spirit, they would not be able to stand where they are today. “We are one family. Every member in this family plays their respective role. “We work hard with team spirit in realising our goal towards bringing glory to the state of Malacca,” he said. Even though SMK Iskandar Shah has been selected to represent Malacca at the ‘National Level Secondary Schools Poem and Song Competition’ since year 2006, they, however, have never made it to the top, he added. Sabar said they were very excited when their school name was announced as the overall champion in the competition.
